anything to be a princess

when i was little i used to love reading fairy tales, watching them or listening to them..

what interested me most in a fairytale, was the princess.. all princesses would be angelic, amicable, compassionate, benevolent and gracious. i would look up to them..

so i would dress up like one.. wear mom's heels, and use her dupatta as a cape over my dress, flowing down from my shoulders.

but there was a problem... i'd need someone to hold my cape and walk behind me so i could feel like a princess.

now, making someone at home agree to do that was a tough job.. my younger sister wasn't born then:( so it had to be my elder sis..

i would agree to do all her work.. anything and everything so i'd be the princess!!!!...

yeah, that's the irony!!!!

don't sleep in a bus!!

Sunday night, i set my alarm for 5 30AM..

Monday morning, i get up at 6.. still sleepy n very late. have to make it in time for my class in another city!....

rush to the washroom.. brush my teeth, take a quick shower.. get ready.. pick my breakfast in one hand, bag in the other.. struggling to hold a bottle of water and rush to the bus stand...

buy my ticket. decide to make up for the night's sleep by taking a short nap in the bus...

get up..

look around..

'there's still time', i tell myself.. 'can't see any boards for the nearby restaurant'..

5min later..
'the market looks new'...

'should i ask someone?'..

'nah! maybe the driver took a long route to get more passengers'...

.....

10 min later i realize.... i'm in another city!!!!

nervous and scared... get down from the bus..

cross the road and stand there waiting for an auto.. finally get one till college..

too late for the classes, i just head straight for the hostel..

unlock my room and jump on my bed:)..

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

when you're in the dental chair

when we were in 3rd year in dental college, its when we got to do our first patients(of course under guidance).

we would first watch our teachers and then get our own case.

one day, when posted in the oral surgery department(deals with teeth extractions), our batch mate got her first patient.

there we all were surrounding her while she gave the anesthesia and pulled out the badly decayed tooth.. the tooth was in such a bad condition that fragments were breaking off..

just then we realized that half the tooth was missing!!!

we searched all around the dental chair, but it was no where to be found...

she then realized it had gone inside the patient's mouth!! she had swallowed it!
what then, just gave her a banana to eat, so it would go right in and not make her choke or block the airway!!

......

in another first case in another department, prosthetic teeth were to be tried in a patient's mouth.. the teeth weren't fixed properly to the base. and after half an hour the student discovered a tooth to be missing..

she searched and searched..

the confused innocent patient looked at her, searched his mouth, took out the prosthetic tooth and said,"looking for this?"

......

so next time you sit in a dental chair, in a dental college, just make sure you're not the first patient!!

for, the first treated patient is the worst treated!!!

auto driver's advice

my friend since 9th grade, sweetie, a total chatterbox, planned to go with me to attend learner's castle's annual day.

we took an autorikshaw..

"bhaiya metre se hi jaenge hum", said sweetie.

"han han madam."

we sat in the auto and we knew it was a long ride..

as always we were yapping, and we talked in English all that while, so the auto driver won't understand.. sweetie started off about all her college friends.. then how her relatives keep coaxing her to get ready for marriage.. "but i've just entered college", she protested.

one after another, we continued our girlie talks..

clothes, family, friends, new boys in her college and anything you can imagine!

we were about to reach..

sweetie said,"but i've now decided, i'm going to try to be happy, no matter what"

"yes madam, very true. everyone has bad times. but don't worry, be happy. think positive, be optimistic", said the driver.

.....silence.....

....more silence......

....silence continued......

"madam you have reached"

we both got down. paid him.. looked at each other and laughed for long..

and just then she asked,"what all did we discuss?"

i remember most of it even now.. but i just can't share it!!!!
